In the lead up to Black Friday, there was an email that went out from Amazon promoting and Alexa voice service in April product called the EU FY. this is a product that’s similar to the Echo Dot but less half the cost.

This is the direction that all voice-enabled hardware products are going to go over the next year. Soon, you’ll be seeing companies eating even more of the cost of the hardware in order to be able to promote new services and potential revenue sources through the device.

I’m curious about Black Friday and what Google and Amazon will be doing to promote their voice devices. For both, there will likely be deals available by voice only (as Amazon has done on Prime Day). The hard part will be figuring out where third party hardware makers will fall in the drive to bring down ambient voice device cost and get more people onboard.
