This week, XMOS announced its own kit for AVS development. This allows developers to try out their mics for far field voice development. They join MicroSemi, Conexant, NXP and Cirrus Logic.

One assumption that these kits make is that they’re being used by developers who’ve made up their mind on a given mic solution before purchasing. What we’ve seen in AVS engagements is that developers tend to want to evaluate the mics head to head against each other.

There really needs to be an easier way to switch out mics/DSP solutions for easier testing. Maybe we’ll see this in a next generation of kit?
