On Alexa, you can order a pizza through the skills for either Pizza Hut or Domino’s. Pizza Hut’s skill is freshly baked and it looks like it’s still a bit doughy (hold on… there will be puns):

Several years ago, when we were debating new markets for the Ubi, one of them was food ordering. We felt that this could be a source of additional revenue by taking a piece of transactions that were occurring through voice. However, this piece of a piece in revenue share would have required hundreds of millions of transactions and not likely have helped support the infrastructure and hardware.
Even though Amazon doesn’t appear to take a slice of the action for pizza ordering on Alexa (I warned you about the puns), it does get the full margin of all regular Amazon Prime orders made through the device, some of them exclusive. This makes it a sustainable product whereas Google will likely use the Google Home product to secure its web search and AdWords audience.
Voice is great for a quick command so ordering a pizza is only good if the pizza choice is preset. Otherwise, it’s easier to do this through a web or mobile interface. In any case, we’ll likely see more of these quick re-order skills / Google Actions come to light over the next few months.
