Phil Diller gave the lightest diss to Apple’s competitors, Amazon and Google, for their devices. There are speculations about an Apple made competitor to the Echo/Google Home being released next month and Diller’s comments about needing a screen for voice to be effective seem to miss the mark. It might be that Diller hasn’t really lived with either of these devices for any length of time, maybe because of a Not Invented Here outlook.
However, these comments remind me a lot of Steve Ballmer’s about the iPhone:
As a conspiracist about what Apple will release, I think Diller’s words wouldn’t conflict with the release of an Apple dock with Siri or some other release. Maybe Amazon will pre-empt them with the recent rumours about a new Echo product?
