Today, I needed to get a song to play… quickly. I needed a slower version of the Chicken Dance song. “OK Google, play a slow version of Chicken Dance from YouTube.” Results were displayed in less than a second, song started to play (after AdRoll) within six seconds.

Even if I were to use swipe typing, there’s no way I could get close to 200 WPM that I needed to start the search quickly. Without the trigger, I’d have to find microphone button as well.

One of the UX challenges that are still in front of us is how to add voice interaction into browsers or computers. Voice triggering on these devices could make things much easier — especially if it allows us to continue to work on a document and not lose keyboard entry on a particular field.

I’ll be trying out this Google Assistant port to Chrome shortly.
